This week's NFT recap spans across different metrics such as 7D top collections (via. highest trading volumes), 7D smart buys and sells, Opensea vs. LooksRare marketplace, 7 potentially smart plays, upcoming mints, and takeaways.

Our weekly recap aims to provide a more comprehensive overview of the NFT market and general sentiment of top-performing collections.

NFT Market Overview

Within the Nansen NFT-500 (Blue Chip-10; Social-100; Gaming-50; Art-20; Metaverse-20), we can see the general trend of declining index points within the 30D interval.

  • The NFT-500 index has fallen by 28% in a 30D interval, with the daily change of -1.72%.
  • An overall decrease in index points suggests that the general interest in NFTs is declining.

The market cap per category stands at 4.52M in total, with Social-100 taking the lead of 79%, followed by Metaverse 9.25%, Game 7.95%, and Art 3.83%.

  • We are primarily seeing a decline in floor prices of top collections from the NFT-500 index activity in the last 7D.
  • BAYC’s floor dropped 12% in the last 7D, and 25% in the last 30D.
  • CryptoPunk’s volume traded takes the lead in the past 24H, with minimal floor price movement in the last 7D & 30D respectively.
  • Most of the top performing NFTs in terms of market cap is in the social category, with NFT Worlds and Sandbox Land leading for Metaverse.
  • World of Women’s floor increased by 7.22% in the last 24H.

This week's highlights

  • The overall market is relatively quiet this week.
  • CyberBrokers takes the lead, with volume traded of 12,343 ETH and 10,155 ETH in market cap. CyberBrokers minted earlier this week with a mint price of 0.35, and its current floor price of 2.4 ETH (at the time of writing).
  • Dippies and Antonym: Genesis also topped the charts this week.
  • CyberBrokers is a fully on-chain collection by a renowned artist, Josie Bellini. CyberBrokers prides itself on its fully “on-chain” NFTs. Most NFTs only store partial data on-chain: the token ID and a URL that points to the token's metadata. Some NFTs may store additional information on-chain, such as metadata and traits metadata, all the way to storing the art entirely on-chain. Only a few projects currently store the full art and metadata on-chain, including Avastars, Aavegotchi, and Loot.
  • Dippies was mentioned on NFT Weekly Recap #5 as one of the 7 Interesting Plays. This collection consists of 8,888k unique digital hippies PFP that are building the new free world before our eyes.
  • Antonym: Genesis is a phygital lifestyle brand aiming to bridge the gap between digital collectibles and physical designer goods.

Daily Active Users on OpenSea vs. LooksRare

Key terms:

  1. New users = users making a transaction on OpenSea for the first time
  2. Retained users = returning addresses who have previously made at least 1 transaction
  • It is clear that the daily active users on OpenSea is nowhere near the Dec-Jan bull run. Momentum has been staggering on a downward trend in the past 14D.
  • Nothing new for LooksRare compared to our NFT Weekly Recap Report #5, where we noted that the general trend of daily active users on LooksRare is on a consistent decline.
  • It seems like the daily active users on LooksRare mirrors the general health of the market. When the overall volume across marketplaces is on a downwards trend, we can see this similarly reflected in LooksRare’s daily active users and trading volume.

Potentially Interesting Plays to Watch

Note that these projects are projects that are highly raved about, and/or, projects that might be interesting plays, but only time will tell.

Disclaimer: Twitter followers can also be easily fabricated. It is becoming an increasingly common tactic for newer projects that are launching. However, we also consider other aspects such as community, possible narratives, etc.
